The car kit
Most people are never more than a breakdown away from needing this.
Always in the car
- Water, a blanket, a torch, a phone charger.
- First aid kit, warning triangle, high-visibility vest.
- Jump leads or a jump starter.
In winter add
- Scraper, small shovel, warm hat and gloves.
- A few snack bars that survive freezing.
Habits
- Keep the tank or battery above half.
- If you are stuck in snow, stay with the car. Run the engine about ten minutes an hour, keep the exhaust pipe clear and a window open a crack.
