When it happens
Short lists for the moment itself.
- Power cutThe most likely emergency you will ever have. Also the best one to practise on.
- Winter stormSnow is pretty for a day. Then the power goes.
- FloodWater wins every argument. Leave early.
- HeatwaveKills more people than storms do, quietly, indoors.
- Tap water off or unsafeA burst main, a contamination notice, or a frozen pipe.
- You have to leaveFire, flood, a chemical spill down the road. Minutes matter.
- Phones and internet downA cyberattack, a cut cable, or the AI finally changing the wifi password.
- Wildfire and smokeThe fire may be far away. The smoke is in your street.
How to do it
The guides behind every line on the lists.
- WaterYou last about three days without it. Sort this before anything else.
- FoodStore what you eat, eat what you store. Everything else is detail.
- Cooking without mainsHot food changes the whole day. Carbon monoxide changes it more.
- LightDarkness makes every other problem worse. It is also the cheapest one to fix.
- PowerYou do not need to run the house. You need phones, light and maybe a fridge.
- HeatCold is a slow emergency. Shrink the space you need to keep warm.
- First aid and medicineA kit helps. Knowing what to do with it helps more.
- Toilets and hygieneNobody plans for this one. Then the water stops.
Know your real number
The stockpile tool counts what you own in calories, protein, fat, water, medicine and power, per person, and shows the weakest link. No cloud, no account, no AI.
Buying big? Use a local dealer
A shelter, a solar system or a year of food is a serious purchase. Tell us what you want and where you are, and we pass your request to a dealer who can serve your area.
Nonsense corner
Not advice. Obviously.
The AI cannot take over a house with no wifi. Think about it.
