Winter storm
Snow is pretty for a day. Then the power goes.
During
- Stay in. Most storm injuries happen on the road.
- Live in one room and keep it warm.
- Let taps drip in a deep frost.
- Clear snow from heater vents and exhausts.
Before
- Fill the car, charge everything, top up food and water.
- Bring in firewood and find the shovels.
- Check the carbon monoxide alarm works.
If you must drive
- Tell someone your route.
- Winter car kit, full tank, charged phone.
- If stuck, stay with the car and keep the exhaust clear.
