Heatwave

Kills more people than storms do, quietly, indoors.

Keep the heat out

  1. Close blinds and windows by day, open everything at night.
  2. Stay on the coolest side of the home.

Keep people cool

  • Drink water before you feel thirsty.
  • Cool showers, wet cloths on neck and wrists, feet in a bowl of water.
  • Skip hard work in the middle of the day.

Watch out for

  • Babies, older people and anyone ill. Check on them twice a day.
  • Never leave children or animals in a parked car, not even for a minute.
  • Hot dry skin, confusion or fainting is an emergency. Cool the person and call for help.
