Documents and cash
When the card machines are down, the person with coins is king.
Cash
- Enough for a few days of food and fuel, in small notes and coins.
- Nobody can give change in a power cut.
- Hide it somewhere better than the sock drawer.
Documents
- Copies of ID, insurance, property papers, prescriptions and key phone numbers.
- One set on paper in a waterproof folder, one on an encrypted USB stick.
- Photos of every room for insurance. It takes ten minutes.
Money as a prep
- An emergency fund solves more emergencies than a bunker does.
- Start with one month of expenses and build from there.
